AB/DL is a quick abbreviation used to refer
to anyone who is an adult baby or diaper lover. Because websites, message
boards, etc, tend to be aimed at both, the AB/DL term is used to quickly
refer to anyone who engages in some sort of behavior that could be
considered babyish. Most of the time, this behavior involves disposable
and/or cloth diapers. An adult baby or teen baby is a person who is at least 13, well past the age where behaviors such as wearing diapers or drinking from a bottle are age-appropriate, but still engages in this form of behavior because it causes feelings of safety and security. Most adult babies wear and use diapers, but a few don't use them, and a few engage in other types of babyish behavior without wearing diapers. They may own other babyish paraphernalia, such as onesies, bottles, pacifiers, plastic pants and, occasionally, adult-sized cribs and changing tables. Adult babies or teen babies may seek a mommy or daddy to take care of them. This person may or may not be physically older than the AB/TB and often is also involved in a romantic relationship with them. Adult babies/teen babies are also referred to as infantilists. Wikipedia offers an excellent definition of infantilism. Diaper lovers are people who simply enjoy the feeling of diapers. Although many may also enjoy being babied, their primary love is the feeling of the diaper. Usually, they derive sexual pleasure from that feeling and may masturbate in diapers or involve them in sexual foreplay. A few diaper lovers, however, do not get sexual feelings from the diapers but still enjoy the feel of them. Many people describe themselves as both an AB and a DL. One of the most frequently asked questions about adult babies and diaper lovers is "what causes this?" The answers are varied and many AB/DLs can never explain exactly why they like what they like. There are many myths involving the AB/DL lifestyle, among them that AB/DLs are pedophiles or that the lifestyle is unhealthy. Unfortunately, this problem is exasperated by the fact that most people do not really know what an AB/DL is, and movies and TV shows often depict adults who wear diapers as crazy or stupid, putting characters in diapers for comedic value. Most AB/DLs can balance their hobby with a social life, family, school and work.
